SMP Results Timeline

What happens before, during and after your SMP result.

Scalp micropigmentation is built in layers. Here is the honest timeline from photo quote and session one through to the healed, natural-looking final result.

BeforeAfter

Step By Step

Your SMP journey from first message to final result.

The result is not rushed in one heavy sitting. It is layered carefully so the colour, density and hairline settle naturally.

01
Before Treatment

Consultation, photo quote and planning

Send clear photos or visit the Whitstable clinic. Mark checks your hair loss pattern, skin tone, existing hair, scars and goals before giving a realistic plan and price.

This is where the hairline shape, density target and number of sessions are agreed.

02
Session One

The foundation layer

The first session is deliberately lighter. It maps the hairline, creates the first layer of follicle impressions and gives the scalp time to show how it holds pigment.

It may look sharp at first, then soften as the skin settles.

03
Healing Window

The colour softens and settles

In the days after treatment, the scalp can look darker, slightly warm or a little dry. This is normal. The pigment then softens as the top layer of skin heals.

Good aftercare during this window protects the final result.

04
Session Two

More density and stronger blending

The second session builds depth through the hairline, crown or treatment area. This is when many clients start to see the finished look taking shape.

Mark can adjust tone and spacing based on how session one healed.

05
Session Three

Final refinement

The third session refines the result: softer edges, more even density, extra detail through light areas and a clean blend into existing hair.

This is where the treatment moves from good to finished.

06
Final Result

The healed SMP result

Once healed, SMP should look like a natural close-shaved hair pattern. The best results look calm, soft and believable in daylight.

Long term, sun protection and simple care help the result stay cleaner for longer.

Aftercare Timeline

What to remember while it heals.

First Few Days

Keep it dry

Avoid washing the treated area, heavy sweating and touching the scalp while the tiny impressions settle.

Between Sessions

Let it soften

The colour may look darker first, then fade back slightly. That settling helps Mark build the next layer correctly.

After Final Session

Protect the scalp

Avoid strong sun early on, then use SPF when healed to keep the result looking clean and natural.

Long Term

Refresh when ready

Most results last years. A top-up later can bring back crispness without repeating the full treatment.

Common Surprises

What clients often ask during healing.

Looks Darker

Fresh SMP is not the final shade.

Immediately after a session, pigment can look stronger. It settles as the skin heals, which is why sessions are spaced out.

Looks Softer

Some fading between sessions is expected.

The first layer is not meant to be the finished result. Each appointment builds controlled density until the result is balanced.

Hairline Shape

Natural beats overly sharp.

The best hairline is age-appropriate and believable. It should frame your face without looking drawn on.

Maintenance

Simple routine, better result.

Keep the hair short for full-head SMP, protect your scalp from sun and send photos if you are unsure about healing.

Not Sure What Stage You Need?

Send photos and ask Mark.

Every scalp heals slightly differently. Clear photos let Mark explain the likely session plan, result timeline and price before you book.
