Which scalp micropigmentation service do I need?
Full head SMP suits advanced male hair loss, hairline SMP suits recession, density SMP suits thinning hair, and specialist services are available for women's hair loss, alopecia and scar camouflage.
Do I have to shave my head after SMP?
For full head SMP, hair is normally kept very short so it blends naturally with the pigment. For density treatments, hairline work and most women's SMP, shaving is not required because we work with your existing hair.
Can SMP help if I have had a hair transplant?
Yes. SMP can improve visual density after a hair transplant, refine a hairline and camouflage FUE dot scars or FUT strip scars where the transplant result has not given enough coverage.
Can women have scalp micropigmentation?
Yes. Women's SMP is designed to work between existing hair without shaving, reducing visible scalp, widening partings and diffuse thinning to create the appearance of fuller density.
Does SMP work on all skin tones?
Yes. SMP can work on fair, olive and darker skin tones when the pigment shade, needle depth and layering are matched correctly to the client.
How soon after a hair transplant can I have SMP?
As a general guide, wait around 12 months after a hair transplant before SMP so the scalp, grafts and scar tissue have fully healed. If you are unsure, send photos and Mark can advise.
