Pricing
Full transparency on SMP pricing — what you actually pay, what affects the cost, and how it compares to other hair loss treatments. All ScalpLiners prices include all 3 sessions.
SMP pricing is based on the Norwood Scale — the standard classification for male pattern baldness. The higher the stage, the more scalp area needs to be covered, requiring more time and pigment.
| Norwood Stage | Description | Price (all 3 sessions) |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Minimal recession — hairline only | £250 |
| Stage 2 | Slight temples recession | £300 |
| Stage 3 | Moderate temples & hairline recession | £350 |
| Stage 4 | Significant recession — top beginning to thin | £550 |
| Stage 5 | Large area of hair loss — bridge of hair remaining | £650 |
| Stage 6 | Extensive hair loss — sides only remaining | £850 |
| Stage 7 | Full baldness | £1,000 |
| Stage 8 | Extensive full baldness | £1,200 |

Several factors influence where your SMP price sits within the pricing scale. Understanding these helps you budget accurately and avoid surprises.
Extent of hair loss. This is the biggest factor. A minimal receding hairline at Stage 1 takes significantly less time and pigment than a full Stage 7 or 8 treatment. The Norwood Scale gives both you and your artist a shared reference point so pricing is objective, not arbitrary.
Scalp size and skin type. Some scalps are larger or have skin that requires more passes to achieve consistent pigment depth. Mark assesses this during your free consultation and factors it into the final quote.
Scar tissue. FUE and FUT scar camouflage requires additional care and technique. Scar tissue behaves differently from normal scalp skin and pricing reflects the extra time and skill involved.
Number of sessions needed. Most treatments are completed in 3 sessions. All ScalpLiners pricing includes all sessions required to complete the treatment — there are no per-session charges on top of your quoted price.
Top-up sessions. SMP typically lasts 3–7 years before a refresh is needed. A single top-up session at ScalpLiners costs £300 and restores the original result. This is a separate cost from your initial treatment and is entirely optional — many clients go 5+ years before needing one.
London SMP clinics typically charge £1,500–£3,500 for the same treatment that ScalpLiners provides from £250. The difference is not quality — it is overheads. Central London premises, larger teams and marketing costs all feed into London pricing.

The honest answer is: it depends on what you compare it to. Against a hair transplant (£3,000–£15,000), SMP is a fraction of the price. Against Toppik or hair fibres (£20–£40 per month, every month, for life), SMP works out cheaper within a few years and requires zero daily effort. Against doing nothing and living with the confidence impact of hair loss — most clients say SMP was one of the best decisions they ever made.
The typical ScalpLiners client spends £250–£800 on their initial treatment and £300 on a top-up every 4–6 years. Over a decade, that is less than £1,500 total — for a result that looks natural every day, in any light, with no maintenance required.
