The first layer of pigment is applied across the thinning zones. Immediately after the session the scalp looks noticeably denser. The pigment settles and lightens as the skin heals over the following 10–14 days.

Additional depth and density are built up. Mark makes adjustments based on how session one has settled. The difference after session two is often dramatic.

Aftercare: Avoid wetting the scalp for 4 days after each session. Use a gentle, SLS-free shampoo once healed. Apply SPF50 to the scalp daily — this is the most effective way to maintain your result long-term and slow any fading.

Do I need to shave my head for density SMP?

No — this is one of the biggest advantages of density SMP. The treatment works between your existing hair, adding the appearance of density without requiring you to shave. You keep your current hairstyle. It simply looks thicker and fuller.

What's the difference between density SMP and full head SMP?

Full head SMP creates the illusion of a completely shaved head — it works best when the head is actually shaved short. Density SMP is designed for people who still have hair and want to make it look thicker. It fills in visible scalp between thinning hairs rather than creating a shaved-head effect.

Can density SMP be combined with hairline SMP?

Yes — and this is a very common combination at ScalpLiners. If you have both a receding hairline and crown thinning, Mark can address both in the same course of treatment. The hairline is restored at the front while density is added across the top and crown. It is all assessed and priced at the consultation.

Will density SMP be visible if someone looks closely?

No — the dots are applied at the correct depth and density to blend naturally with your existing hair follicles. Up close they look like short, fine hairs emerging from the scalp. The colour is matched to your natural hair and the technique is designed to be completely undetectable.

Can I continue using hair fibres or concealers with density SMP?

Yes — though most clients find they no longer need them after treatment. Density SMP reduces the visible scalp significantly enough that hair fibres become unnecessary. If you do use them, they will blend seamlessly with the SMP beneath.
